07-04-2010 "Never Say Never"
There is so much meaning in these three words. They are so true! I kept saying that I will never ever move, and by no means remodel another place again after moving to Lake City!
The pictures below are of a 2000 sf manufactured home located on a 1/4 acre in Lake Panasoffkee, FL which I purchased for $15,000.00 with money lent by one of my dear friends. Words cannot express enough my gratitude for her support during this time!
I also want to thank from the bottom of my heart to Mara and Oli, my aunt and uncle! Oli, at 75 years old came all the way from Germany for three weeks to offer me emotional support until my mom could make it, and to help me with the labor. He also purchased my appliances. Emotionally I was so overwhelmed, I didn't know how to react. I am not used to people doing things for me, it has always been the other way around.
Below are the first -before- pictures of my new place. The previous owners were forced to foreclose and they stripped the metal roofing before moving, leaving nail holes exposed throughout the roof. The house has been vacant for about a year and by now a good part of the roof was rotten, needing to be stripped off and a new roof put in place.
For now I will try to make remodeling updates at this BLOG.

I purchased 20 pieces of lumber 2"x 6" x 12', and I asked an employee at the Home Depot to cut each piece in 28" long sections. Back home, I made a template and drew the shape on each piece. I then cut along the drawing, then rounded the edges with a router. I plan to make a picket fence around a new porch I would like to build in the back of the home, and a small one in the front.

It always gets worse before it gets better. After pulling the carpet, I took off the strips that are placed over the drywall joints. Next, I will use tape and apply compound instead, but not before removing and replacing the stained portions of the ceiling.

The yard doesn't go too far back, it ends at the armchair. The other lot is vacant, I am hoping that the seller will be willing to sell it to me, or at least a part of it so I could fence in a larger yard.
